FC Miami City Beat Weston; Move To Second In Table

FC Miami City Outlast Weston FC 2-1

FC Miami City have been improving leaps and bounds over their previous season. The massive overhaul of the roster and staff has so far been vindicated by the results being earned on the field. While it hasn’t always been pretty, FC Miami City have found themselves near the top of the table 2 games before the half way point of the season. Their victory against Weston was another result earned by grinding out their opponent.

FC Miami City Open The Season Against Daytona SC At Tropical Park

FC Miami City’s home opener was a success given all the obstacles in the way of Miami’s lone USL League Two club. An early start time (noon kickoff on a weekday), stadium equipment issues, and a completely overhauled roster didn’t stop the match from earning an average attendance. Friends and family took to Tropical Park to watch FCMC square off against newly founded Daytona SC.

FC Miami City Overhaul Roster & Staff Seeking A Return To Normal

FC Miami City Season Preview

It’s not rare to have a roster turnover with quite a few players leaving, especially in lower division football. What FC Miami City have done is surely something that has not been replicated quite often. The entire roster has been overhauled, not even one player returns from the 2018 season. How will that work for City in inaugural USL League Two campaign? For the new coaching staff, it has to be better than the previous campaign.

FC Miami City drop another; Lose in stoppage time to SIMA

FC Miami City came into Wednesday’s match with a point to prove in the PDL season. Dropping points due to costly errors against the Lakeland Tropics in their previous outing, City needed a strong showing to bounce back in their 2nd game of the season. Boasting a roster of local collegiate talent and international players, City playoffs chances look slim in a conference they should be contending in.

The 2018 FC Miami City PDL Preview

FC Miami City will begin its PDL Southeast Division season hosting the Lakeland Tropics in Miami on Saturday 6PM at Tropical Park. This will start a 3 match homestand to open the PDL season. The club look to be in top shape after a vigorous pre-season playing NPSL clubs Boca Raton and Miami United. If that competition wasn’t stiff enough, City had to match up against Miami FC in the US Open Cup play-in round. To close the preseason they also faced the U.S. Men’s National U-20 team at Central Broward Regional Park.

After its loss to The Miami FC 2 in the play-in round of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Sunday, FC Miami City and the U.S. men’s U-20 team will play at Central Broward Regional Park’s Cricket Stadium on Sunday at 4 p.m.

It’s not the first time a local squad has scrimmaged against one of America’s youth squads. Last year, The Miami FC faced off against the U.S. U-19 team as part of its preseason.

The U.S. U-20s are using the game as a tune-up before they depart to Honduras. The team has two games scheduled against Los Catrachos on May 17 and 19. One player on the U-20 squad, Andres Jimenez, is from Miami. Jimenez currently is part of the youth system of Envigado FC, based in Colombia. Before the game, the team is spending six days in Florida to train.
