There was plenty of reasons for soccer fans in and around the South Florida soccer world to be happy about this week.
The Miami FC got things off to a great start with a win away at New York Red Bulls II on Friday night. The game’s only goal came when Billy Forbes clipped a lovely ball through for János Löbe. The full back centered for Ballard who had his shot blocked but Jamaican international Speedy Williams rifled home a smart finish from the edge of the box.

Forbes had a couple of opportunities to increase the lead but couldn’t finish off the chances. Miami’s defense and keeper Connor Sparrow held firm and FC picked up all three points with a 1-0 win. That result puts them third of eight in the USL Championship Atlantic Division. Next up is the Rowdies in St. Petersburg on Sat., May 22nd at 7:30pm (ESPN+).
Inter Miami CF did it the hard way on Sunday afternoon against FC Cincinnati. They blew a two-goal advantage in Cincy’s brand-new stadium and the match looked to be heading to a 2-2 draw when Gonzalo Higuaín and Lewis Morgan combined for a sensational match winner.

An important win that puts them 7th in the Eastern Conference. Their road trip continues in Chicago on Saturday against the Fire. Kick off 6pm.
Wrapping things up on Sunday evening were Fort Lauderdale CF who put FC Tucson to the sword at home winning 5-1.
It’s nine points from six games for the USL League One side. Good enough for third place but they have played two more games than the teams around them. They return to action away at Chattanooga Red Wolves on Saturday at 7pm (ESPN+).
The Southeast Division of USL League Two is now also up and running. Weston FC top the table following a goalless draw at home to The Villages midweek. FC Miami City bounced back from their loss to Weston in their opening game with a 1-1 draw vs Tampa Bay United.
